TWO new homes for disabled former service personnel are set to go ahead in Cardross after an appeal against planning refusal was successful.

Homes for Heroes and the Chrystal Trust took their case to the Scottish Government after twice being refused permission for a site at Bloomhill, to the east of Shira Lodge, on the main road through the village.

And this week reporter Lorna McCallum, from the government's directorate for planning and environmental appeals, decided in the applicants' favour.

More than five hundred people or organisations wrote to Argyll and Bute Council about the proposal, with 193 objecting to the plans and 352 expressing support.
