VOLUNTEERS organising this year’s Helensburgh Winter Festival are hoping that their efforts will keep them on Santa’s nice list.

One part of the event - Santa's Grotto - has a new venue, but that apart, the festival retains everything expected of the previous four years.

The Helensburgh Parish Halls are the new venue for Santa who will once again visit to see the children.

The festival will see the usual favourites of a skating rink, reindeer and stalls galore.

Despite challenging weather last year the festival is continuing to grow.

The Rotary Club of Helensburgh are taking on the responsibility of organising the grotto and the Round Table will be in charge of the annual Santa Dash.

Gary Mulvaney, chair of the Winter Festival committee, said: "It's a small team who make all this happen, with the help of lots of other local organisations, so if anyone would like to join us as a member of the team that would be great.

“We are also looking for people to help out for an hour or two over the weekend itself, with lots of different volunteering options such as stewarding or doing surveys."

This year’s festival will take place on November 26 and 27 and anyone interested in getting involved or who want to find out more information should email info@helensburghwinterfestival.co.uk or alternatively leave their contact details at the Pet Shop on Sinclair Street.
