Entries for this year’s Babcock 10K Series are surging towards 500, with just under four months to go until the races.

The Helensburgh and Shettleston events each have 170 entries so far, with 140 signing up for the Dumbarton race.

For the first time in its history, the Shettleston 10K at Glasgow Green will host the Scottish 10K Championship.

Babcock has also recently signalled its long-term commitment to the series by signing a contract which will see its sponsorship continue until at least 2025.

Series chairman Kevin Johnson said: “Babcock has been our title sponsor since 2017 and has offered its enthusiastic support in developing the Series, with new innovations every year.

“This commitment will enable us to plan with confidence and certainty for the future.

“Last year, we introduced complete road closures for our event in Helensburgh; that will continue and we are excited about hosting the prestigious Scottish Championships in Shettleston.

“This will certainly strengthen the elite men’s and women’s fields.”

Kenny Douglas, managing director of Babcock at HMNB Clyde, added: “We have enjoyed working with the team behind the 10K Series and are looking forward to continuing our sponsorship of the event over the next three years.”

The series will kick off in Helensburgh on Thursday, May 4, followed by the Shettleston race on Sunday, May 14, and concluding in Dumbarton on Thursday, May 25.

Every finisher will receive a unique commemorative medal, and item of running merchandise, water, healthy snacks, and a chance to compete for more than £6,000 in Start Fitness vouchers.

There will also be individual, local, and spot prizes, as well as age group awards. A special early bird discount is available until January 31. Find out more here.
