A HELENSBURGH and Lomond school pupil has been chosen a regional winner to design the best Coronation flag across Argyll and Bute.

Leah Rosenburgh, a P1 pupil at Cardross Primary, was a winner in the contest to mark the crowning of King Charles III.

Other winners were Harry MacColl-Smith, P7 at Inveraray Primary, and Amedlia MacLean, P7 in Tobermory Primary, for Oban Lorn and the Isles.

The overall winner was P7 pupil Roxana Dulska, the regional winner for the Bute and Cowal area, who saw her winning design raised on the flagpole at Kilmory Castle during a ceremony to mark the occasion.

The council’s policy lead for education, Councillor Yvonne McNeilly, said: “Huge congratulations to Roxana on winning this very special competition and also to Leah, Harry and Amelia on becoming the regional winners in their local areas.

“We received more than 1,100 entries from across Argyll and Bute and they were all tremendous.

“Choosing the winners was a very difficult job because there were so very many wonderful designs.

"Everyone who entered should be very proud of themselves for helping Argyll and Bute to mark the Coronation of King Charles III – you are all incredible.

“Thanks also to all the teachers for supporting our young people to take part in the competition and for encouraging their creativity to shine.”
