POLICE forces are set to hold their second community drop-in to hear from Helensburgh residents.

The Ministry of Defence Police, Police Scotland and the Royal Navy Police held their first session last month at Drumfork Community Centre.

Now Helensburgh Community Hub will be the latest venue as the police forces aim to hold events every four to six weeks across Helensburgh and Lomond.

On June 7, from 6pm to 8pm, the Hub will offer an opportunity for the public and other agencies to have a chat with officers about any questions or concerns they might have.

Defence community police officer Drew Omand said: "If you know of any member of the community who may benefit from talking to police in an informal way, then this could be a perfect opportunity to do so."

The first event focused on tackling violence against women and that remains a high-priority area.

Speaking last month, Chief Inspector Craig Taylor, of the Ministry of Defence Police at HM Naval Base Clyde, said: "The Ministry of Defence Police, Police Scotland and the Royal Navy Police have collaborated to bring a new community engagement initiative for the Argyll and Bute area.

"Our police community drop-in will be an opportunity for locals to interact with officers informally and discuss any queries or concerns that you may have.

"Officers will also be able to give advice and guidance on a variety of topics and pass contact information of outside agencies if required.

"The importance of reintegrating community engagement and being able to highlight any underlying issues will be hugely beneficial going forward."
