FINAL preparations are being made on the bonnie banks ahead of one of the most popular events on the summer calendar in the Loch Lomond area – the Luss Highland Gathering.
Large crowds are expected in the village for the hugely popular event this Saturday, July 1.
The day's action will include track races for children and adults, Highland dancing, a tug-o-war, traditional Scottish backhold wrestling, local and open piping competitions, and the ever-popular heavy events - with versions for both children and adults.
The programme also includes obstacle races, hill races, a 'kilted dash', cycle races and even a race specially for overseas visitors to the event.
The opening ceremony takes place at the Games field - across the road from the new 'south car park' located next to the Loch Lomond Arms Hotel - at 11am on Saturday.
But if you get there early you can also enjoy the traditional curtain-raiser to the event - a march through the village from Luss Pier to the Games venue, led by the Helensburgh Clan Colquhoun Pipe Band, starting at the pier at 10.30am.
Admission is £9 for adults, £4 for concessions and children under 12, and £23 for a family ticket for two adults and two children.
Parking for 300 cars is available opposite the Games field, priced at £1.20 per hour.
