It was a case of best paws forward at the weekend for the Dog Show in Helensburgh.

Despite some rain, the show was a huge success and raised funds towards the town's Christmas lights festival in a few months.

A total of 211 dogs entered the various classes and were judged by Helen Monaghan before being strutted around the ring by their owners.

Class 10 was the most popular, with 32 entrants wanting to win the rosette for "Most Handsome Dog".

At the same time, the biggest market of the year attracted customers during the day. Donna Hicks brought Paw Patrol and their friends to high five visitors, while Bluto was also showing off his tail.

There was a range of rides and Colquhoun Square was full of people swappying doggy tails.

"We raised more than £1,000 on the day from show entries and donations, a significant amount into the kitty for the costs of this year’s Christmas lights display, thank you all for being so generous.

"Once again we are grateful to local businesses who help us stage such events, the Community Advertiser, Wilkies, The Ashton, Beacon Trust, Terrace Cafe and Helensburgh Pet Shop.

"Without their unstinting support the event would not be possible. A special thank you must go to a special friend of the elves, Debbie Fleming of Townhead Farm, for organising the show under the auspices of the Kennel Club."
