A Helensburgh photographer is “delighted” to welcome snappers of all skill levels to a unique event next month.

Kath Polley will be leading the town’s Scott Kelby Photowalk on Saturday, October 7.

The event will give local photographers the chance to come together to explore Helensburgh and take pictures of the area’s sites and scenes.

Photographers will meet on Sinclair Street outside the Co-Op where they will make their way towards the seafront and head west to the pier.

The group will then go to West Clyde Street and through to James Street’s Community Garden before heading back east along West Princes Street to Colquhoun Square.

Participants will then make their way to Hermitage Park where they can photograph plants, the War Memorial and the kitchen garden.

After the walk, photographers will be invited to socialise and share their pictures at the Hermitage Park Pavilion and Café.

Helensburgh photographers will also be able to enter their best pictures into a global competition where people can compete for the grand prize, leader grand prize, top finalist, or people’s choice awards.

Kath said: “I would be delighted if you joined me for this Scott Kelby Photowalk 2023 to take in some of Helensburgh’s highlights – all skill levels welcome, all cameras welcome – phones included.

“It is traditional after one of these walks to gather together again, share images and chat about our walk and I propose meeting at the Park Pavilion and Café for this purpose.”

Kath is an established photographer who offers workshop and tutoring to learners and those looking to perfect their craft.

She is also the manager of Photo Club Helensburgh and runs a photography and wellbeing group for mental health and wellbeing charity Jean’s Bothy.

Scott Kelby Photowalks are a global annual event which began in 2008 and sees groups of snappers all over the world come together on the same day.

This year’s series is supporting The Springs Of Hope Kenya Orphanage – with participants being asked to donate to the charity.

Scott is an American photographer and author who has written over 60 books on the subject.
