A 'danger to life' warning has been issued with heavy rain and flooding set to batter Helensburgh and Lomond this weekend.

The Met Office has placed the area into an amber weather warning status for more than 24 hours meaning homes and businesses will be impacted and travel disruption likely.

Some communities could be in danger of being cut off due to flooded roads.

The warning also means there is a risk of power cuts and outages.

The amber alert will run from Saturday, October 7 at 3am until 6am on Sunday, October 8 and authorities have warned about travel.

A post from Argyll and Bute Council on social media shared Traffic Scotland safety advice and said: "If your journey is essential this weekend, get advice on driving in heavy rain."
