The Friends of Geilston Garden have celebrated the end of a successful event season with a final sold-out event.

Locals enjoyed a reflective and calming Mindfulness Meander through the garden on Saturday, October 14.

Led by mindfulness expert and teacher, Wendy Alexander, the group’s final event of the season allowed participants to use sensory awareness practices and experience short, guided meditations during a stroll throughout the gardens.

Alana Ingram, from the Friends of Geilston, said: “Despite the dreadful weather of the previous weekend, the sell-out session was held on a sunny, breezy autumnal morning, allowing participants to engage positively with the environment and to learn about the benefits and process of mindfulness.

“Nature and the Geilston gardening team have worked their magic in returning a drookit and windblown garden to a calm and wonderful place to visit and spend time for the last few weeks of the season.

“There is still plenty to see and enjoy in the garden and plenty of apples and produce available.”

While the Friends' programme of Geilston events is now at an end for the year, the attraction's owners, the National Trust for Scotland (NTS), are running a Hallowe'en Trail at the garden across Saturday, October 28 and Sunday, October 29.

The trail will be the garden’s last event of the season before the gates are closed for the winter on Monday, October 30.

Geilston will reopen for a new season in the spring of 2024.
