A HELENSBURGH choir is set to help raise the roof for charity at a special performance in Glasgow.

Members of the town's Rock Choir will join their colleagues from across the west of Scotland to perform an all-singing, all dancing performance of rock legends at Glasgow City Halls on Sunday, November 5.

The choir - whose members will also come from Bearsden, Houston, Bothwell and Largs - will be raising money for Alzheimer Scotland.

It's a charity that is close to Rock Choir leader Jennifer Scouller's heart as her mum Wilma was sadly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s last year.

Jennifer and 300 singers will take to the stage to perform a varied repertoire of fun, uplifting, contemporary songs such as 'For Once In My Life' by Stevie Wonder and Guns 'N' Roses 'Sweet Child Of Mine’.

She said: “I’m so thrilled to be returning to the prestigious Glasgow City Halls as it will be the first time all my choirs will be performing together in this setting post-Covid.

"Everyone is so looking forward to taking to the stage and performing again together as one large choir."

Like Jennifer, her mum was a conductor, and for nearly three decades conducted the Largs Gaelic Choir.

This concert will not only raise vital funds for Alzheimer Scotland, but it will also be a celebration of Jennifer’s 13 years as a leader with Rock Choir.

The performance is expected to bring joy, energy, passion, upbeat feel-good songs, a few slower emotional songs and a night out that is guaranteed to make you feel exuberant and uplifted.

Jennifer’s ‘Rockies’ have already raised £1,000 so far this year and hope to raise a considerable amount more at the concert.

Tickets are £15 and are available on Glasgow Life at tickets.glasgowlife.org.uk/31429/31431
