HELENSBURGH'S MSP says "it's over" for Scotland's First Minister as speculation mounts that Humza Yousaf will resign later today.

Mr Yousaf's premiership has been hanging by a thread since he ended the Bute House Agreement with the Scottish Greens last week.

Reports on Monday suggest he will step down from his role rather than face parliament, after the Scottish Tories tabled a motion of no confidence in him and Scottish Labour submitted a similar motion against his government.

He is now set to face two confidence votes - one in his leadership, from the Scottish Tories, and one in the entire Scottish Government.

Should the latter pass, it would force the First Minister to resign.

It is expected that he will announce his resignation later on Monday.

And in a tweet last night, Helensburgh and Lomond MSP Jackie Baillie said that 'it's over' for the First Minister as she thinks he won't make it to the vote of no confidence on Wednesday.

Earlier this month Mr Yousaf shared his "delight" after his SNP colleagues led a successful challenge for control of Argyll and Bute Council on Thursday, April 4.
