Helensburgh Rugby Men's head coach Adam Hart said his team got sucked into a style of play they did not want to play in their 31-25 loss to Clydebank on Saturday in their first pre-season fixture of the year.

Helensburgh had initially taken the lead early on with two tries against the West Division Two side, however Clydebank bounced back and increased their physicality and aggression and took the game to Helensburgh, scoring tries via driving mauls and penalty try from pressure in the scrum.

But the head coach was pleased with the run-out for his side, and introducing two new younger Grizzlies into the starting line-up for the first team.

He said: "We started very well, we started the way we wanted to play and then got sucked into a style of rugby that we just don't want to play, and it's always been a notorious place for going, they're always going to be hard to beat.

"Everyone got a run out, everyone got a fair shot at it and we had two debutants starting in the second row, two 18-year-old's, one of which only turned 18 the day before so he was able to play and everyone got a fair shot at it, and I think we had one injury to Stuart King.

He's one of our more experienced players, it was just an awkward tackle and he went down and twisted himself, but he should be fine for the start of the season.
