Helensburgh Amateur Athletics Club’s young athletes have had an action packed summer competing in two separate athletics leagues.

The club competes in the Scottish Youth Development League and in the Central and Southern Scotland Athletics League.

Over the season almost 50 athletes pulled on the HAAC vest to represent their club in a broad spectrum of track and field events.

With events taking place at stadiums in Grangemouth and Kilmarnock, plus a long trip to Dumfries, the athletes clocked up hundreds of miles to compete.

No doubt spurred on by the Olympic Games, there were some great performances by HAAC athletes, with almost everyone who competed managing to improve on their personal best during the summer, showing that the hard work during training really does pay off when it comes to competition time.

Results are taken from combined performances across all age groups, and HAAC finished fourth overall in the Youth Development League and third in the CSSAL.

Many thanks to the athletes, coaches and parents for an enjoyable and successful summer season.

With the summer track and field competitions now concluded the athletes now shift focus to a busy autumn/winter season of cross-country events.
